I feel so CurtOne-ish. All I had to do was click on the word. Means, in the capacity of.

Just ended with a preposition.

Jay...Jay...too is an adverb. It isn't a preposition.

A new student was on the Harvard campus for the first time. Seeing a senior, he asked, "Excuse me, where's the library at?"

The senior lifted his chin and looked down his nose, "Here at Haavard, we do not end a sentence with a preposition."

"Okay," said the freshman. "Where's the library at, jackass."

For what reason did you change your most favourite poster?

[Scoop]Scoop - Feb 17, 2010 12:05 pm (#186 of 197) Reply

I didn't see "Scoop is my most favourite poster ever!" anymore.

[Scoop]Scoop - Feb 17, 2010 12:09 pm (#187 of 197) Reply

Further investigation into the prepositions makes it clear that I should warn everyone not to EVER end a sentence with "athwart".

CurtOne - Feb 17, 2010 12:09 pm (#188 of 197) Reply

"So, where's the library at, athwart."

Of course, that only works if the freshman has a lisp.

I don't see where PR's got that up anywhere, though.

Is there a reason for which am I required to have "Scoop is my favourite poster" in my second line when it is not a requirement for PR?

Jay42 - Feb 17, 2010 12:23 pm (#191 of 197) Reply

does that apply to questions too?

Why do you want to know that for?

Honestly... the question came up here a few days ago..

Yes.

Ha, I'm back as Scoop's favourite poster! I can't believe it took this long to replace JR. I know I don't post much these days, but I think longevity and the quality of my posts speak for themselves. Sorry JR. I'm sure you are someone else's favourite poster.

[Scoop]Scoop - Feb 17, 2010 1:11 pm (#194 of 197) Reply

Great. Lurkers.

The reason, JR, is that I had to earn that status which was tossed aside like CurtOne's dirty laundry. :-(

CurtOne - Feb 17, 2010 1:25 pm (#195 of 197) Reply

That's where you're wrong. I never toss aside dirty laundry. I keep wearing it.
